Melting their signature vocal harmonies into soulful string arrangements, this is emotive folk music, inspired by nature and the times we live in. Featuring the sounds of Fiona Fey, Rey Yusuf (Tell Tale Tusk) Monica Viñoly and Josh Considine.

Check out https://www.youtube.com/@ABSOLUTELILT if you want to see some expert lilting. Also keep your eyes out for our dear friends James Gavin and Adrien Lever, who are also releasing Rocks of Bawn this Autumn, two bands, one song, completely different way of telling the story. Folk music keeps stories alive, this is why folk is never about competition, its about sharing, making the world a more beautiful place and bolstering each other up.

Rocks of Bawn" is the lead single from Something Sleeps' second album, 'Home', due Spring 2027. In this music video, each of us is holding blank placards — historical and protest footage is projected onto them. Mine shows a march against the lack of affordable housing in Lewisham. Monica's shows the protests against Airbnbs and the housing crisis in the Canary Islands. Rey's shows Turkish Cypriots being bussed away to the North of the Island Josh's shows Pride marches — because home doesn't always feel safe when you're LGBTQ+ Four different placards. Four different stories. One song, 300 years old, that is still so relevant. Previous music from the project has picked up airplay on The Roddy Hart Show (BBC Radio Scotland), BBC Bristol, Ian Anderson's Podwireless, and Soho Radio. The band performed at Manchester Folk festival, Focus Wales and FolkEast in 2026 with an upcoming tour in November 2026 and Your Roots Are Showing in Belfast to follow in 2027. Rocks of Bawn is out this Friday 11th September Pre-save https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/somethingsleeps1/rocks-of-bawn?utm_campaign=website&utm_medium=Email+&utm_source=SendGrid "Rocks of Bawn" is a 300+ year old Irish ballad, believed to date back to the aftermath of Oliver Cromwell's invasion of Ireland in the 1650s — when native Irish farmers were driven off fertile land and pushed out to the rocky, barren west. "To Hell or to Connacht." Something Sleeps have reimagined the song as the lead single from their second album, 'Home' (Spring 2027) — a stripped-back, cinematic retelling for a story that's never really gone away. Over the next few days, each member of the band is sharing their own personal story of home, and what it's meant to lose it, or have it threatened. Something Sleeps are a London-based dream-folk quartet: Fiona Fey (Mediaeval Baebes), Reyhan Yusuf (Daemonia Nymphe), Monica Viñoly (Graffiti Classics), and Josh Considine (Filament Theatre). #RocksOfBawn #IrishFolk #FolkMusic #IrishHistory #TradFolk #Cromwell #DreamFolk #Shorts Pre-save https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/somethingsleeps1/rocks-of-bawn?utm_campaign=website&utm_medium=Email+&utm_source=SendGrid

Dolly Parton was a phenomenal songwriter, a fierce advocate, a feminist, and a friend to the LGBTQ+ community long before it was easy to be one. "Dear Companion" is one of her earlier recordings — the harmony work she did with Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt in Trio is truly special. The blend of voices is magical. Folk music is and always was a place for activism, and Dolly used her financial success for the greater good. Rest in peace, Dolly. Thank you for the songs, and for everything else.

We made a little pilgrimage to Bajamar to sing this love song penned to Bajamar itself Monica Viñoly Rey Yusuf Fiona Fey Thanks to David López from Blue Rondo for filming us!

A story of a deep and loving friendship growing from the ashes of a heartbreak. Featuring: Fiona Fey - Vocals Rey Yusuf - Vocals Monica Viñoly - Vocals / Violin Josh Considine - Vocals / Cello My old love gave me an apple tree Was as high as my knee We carved our names in the apple tree The apple tree, the apple tree We carved our names in the apple tree It was taller than me We swung a swing from the apple tree The apple tree, the apple tree We swung a swing from the apple tree My old love and me You left me under the apple tree Oh that apple tree You said you couldn't marry me Couldn't marry me I sat under the apple tree Oh that apple tree Apples rotting all around Autumn winter spring It was quiet I took my time While the tree grew tall Birds made homes I healed my heart Under that apple tree Under that apple tree But we'll always have our apple tree The apple tree, the apple tree We'll always have our apple tree My old love and me We still meet under the apple tree The apple tree the apple tree We still meet under the apple tree You, your new love and me Original song and lyrics by Fiona Fey, Rey Yusuf and Something Sleeps ©️ Something Sleeps 2025
